Sense of Place: Boston Chinatown
As a Chinese New Yorker, my family has been taking me to Chinatown and Flushing for as long as I can remember. Moving to Boston for college, Chinatown was one of the first places I explored. There is a sense of familiarity in Boston’s Chinatown; the assortment of foods, the unique smell, all of it reminds me of home. But it isn’t home. Although I am familiar with the foods and the basic culture present in Boston’s Chinatown, there is a distinct difference in atmosphere that distinguishes one from the other, creating a barrier and a feeling of distance between me and this secondary Chinatown; like an outsider looking in.
I hope you meet your favourite band member and take a really cute and dorky picture with them that has an amazing back story about how you told them how incredible they are and how their music helped you out and then how they hugged you and thanked you for being an amazing fan. And then you have that awesome story and adorable photo (where you say you look terrible but you look very cute and nice) to share with everyone.
